The Arrow and the Song

Soprano and Piano

ASCAP# 913542670

The poem that I set for The Arrow and the Song was written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in 1845. In the poem, Longfellow compares songs to feelings and describes finding one's own “song” in the heart of a friend. The poem is very introspective and deal with the concept of finding true friendship in the people you trust. I tried to set it in a way that complimented these introspective themes.
