Program Notes

My Garden with Walls, is a setting of a poem written by William Brooks in 1918. This poem describes how friendship allows a person to open up and share their true personality freely. The poem is very introspective and deals with the concept of finding true friendship in the people you trust. I tried to set the poem in a way that complimented these introspective themes.
