Deep Sea Snow

Cello and Piano

ASCAP# 913446455

Miles below the ocean surface, so deep that no sunlight shines, underwater "snow" falls continually through the darkness. This snow, composed of silt and dead plants from the surface, falls so slowly that it can take weeks to reach the sea floor. I use the extreme low and high registers of both instruments, as well as moments of complete silence, to evoke the darkness and quietness of the ocean depths.
