While writing this piece, I had fun with the ideas of continuous motion and chain reactions through tight counterpoint. Just as the movement of one mechanism in a clock causes each other mechanism to move, each voice in this piece feeds into the forward movement of every other voice. Motives are passed back and forth with subtle changes, all while weaving a dialogue that is at once mechanical and playful.
