Chatter, Babble, and Yak

Saxophone Quartet

ASCAP# 913446458

The main idea behind this piece was to build it from motives that imitated the motion and contour of human speech. At the beginning of the piece, I pictured the tenor, alto, and soprano saxes as students chatting with one another at the start of a class, and the baritone sax as the teacher trying desperately to control the class as they continuously whisper and joke with one another.
